About- The Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) is an initiative of the Max-Planck Society in collaboration with the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), one of the eleven German Excellence Universities. It was started in 2010 by the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS) with the generous support of the Saxon State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts, the BMBF, and the Klaus Tschira Stiftung. The center was built on the joint interdisciplinary research program between MPI-CBG and MPI-PKS.

Research group seek strong postdoctoral researchers with backgrounds in Computational Biology, Theoretical Physics, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Cell and Developmental Biology and a strong interest to work in cross-disciplinary environment of the CSBD.

Job/Position Description:

In addition to postdoc openings in individual research groups, the ELBE Postdoctoral Fellows Program offers fully-funded fellowships in an international and cross-disciplinary research environment. Selection is based on scientific merit.

The research group seek outstanding postdoctoral researchers with backgrounds in Computational Biology, Theoretical Physics, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Cell and Developmental Biology and a strong interest to work in the cross-disciplinary environment of the CSBD. ELBE Postdoctoral Fellows are independent and have the opportunity to collaborate with more than one research group to bridge between disciplines. The appointment is typically for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension to three years in total. Extensions beyond three years are not possible.

  • Applications are considered by a scientific committee, which meets twice a year. The next application deadline is 15 August, 2021.
  • Short-listed candidates should be prepared to join a selection symposium in October/November 2021, exact date t.b.a., held either virtually or in Dresden, depending on the global Covid-19 situation.
  • The interview consists of a public scientific talk and a confidential meeting with the selection committee.
  • Successful candidates should take up their positions within four months of final acceptance.
