We’re thrilled to announce that the application window is now open for the Una Europa Joint Bachelor in Sustainability (BASUS), an innovative and truly European degree co-created by eight leading research-intensive universities.

About the Programme

BASUS is a three-year international interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to lead the global sustainability transition. It’s not just a degree — it’s a transformative experience across borders, disciplines, and ideas.

Graduates will receive a single joint diploma awarded by six renowned universities:

  • KU Leuven
  • Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
  • Universidad Complutense de Madrid
  • Universität Zürich
  • Helsingin yliopisto/Helsingfors universitet
  • Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie

The programme also benefits from the participation of two mobility partners: the University of Edinburgh and Freie Universität Berlin.

Accredited through the European Approach, BASUS reflects a new standard in transnational education.

Programme Structure

  • Year 1: All students begin with a shared Common Core at Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Kraków
  • Year 2 & 3: Students follow thematic tracks at different partner universities, such as:
    • Law & Politics of Sustainability – Jagiellonian University
    • Environmental & Life Sciences – Complutense University of Madrid
    • Sustainable Chemistry & Physics – University of Helsinki
    • Social Sciences & Humanities – University of Zurich
    • Economics, Management & Engineering – KU Leuven
    • Economy & Geography – Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne

The programme concludes with a capstone semester and optional summer schools hosted across Una Europa universities.

Admission is based on a custom-designed entrance exam assessing aptitude and potential. The test will be held online, making it accessible to applicants from all over the world.
